Eliminate the need to wash

CERAMIC APPLICATION – JAGUAR F TYPE AWD-R

This most powerful of Jaguar’s sports cars, the Jaguar F Type R was brought to us for a single stage paint enhancement and ceramic application to provide at least 2 years protection.

This top spec V8 priced from £90k with its supercharged 5litre V8 is capable of reaching 200mph.

The owner wanted to keep the car looking like new so opted for our single stage paint enhancement and Ceramic application with a price starting at £350.00, a small price to pay for such advanced protection in keeping with this valuable vehicle.

From the front spoiler and running up through elongated headlights the F-TYPE's curving body line begins to take shape. Arcing over the front wheel it descends stylishly as it runs across the door, before ending in a prominent powerful rear flank, looking at this thoroughbred you under no misconception that this is a high performance sports car.

The day started wet and windy, not ideal conditions however with our portable canopy and side screens we were able to protect the Jaguar from the elements while we worked on it. The weather did improve however and the colour of this extraordinary car was just staggering.

The process started with a wheel clean using appropriate brushes and pH neutral cleaner reacts with the oxidising surface of the metallic particles rendering it water soluble. As vehicles brake, the dust generated from pads, discs and drums is at elevated temperatures, amongst this hot cloud are thousands of hot metallic particles, these bombard the wheels finish and effectively embed themselves on to the wheel.

This was followed by a snow foam wash using a low pressure washer. The Snow Foam we use is a new generation premium quality, foaming water-based pre wash treatment, designed to soak and saturate soiled vehicle paintwork prior to the application of a mitt was with a PH neutral vehicle shampoo. The foam is gentle, specifically formulated for use with all pressure washer foam lances.

Applied at a typical PIR (Panel Impact Ratio) of 4%, the foam will panel dwell for typically 5 minutes. Snow Foam is formulated specifically to offer maximum wetting, it rinses easily too.

Your vehicle will then be rinsed from the bottom to the top in a methodical process that prevents those missed areas. Starting with the car top and working our way down, we washed small areas with a hand mitt of about 1 mtr square using only minimal pressure, letting the detergent do its job. Between washing these small areas we thoroughly rinse the Wash Mitt in the rinse bucket.

We then gave the car a final rinse letting the water cascade down to rinse of all the detergent followed by a dry with a lint free micro fibre cloth.

Having completed the initial clean we were ready for the single stage paint enhancement using a professional correction compound and a rotary polisher.

When you hand polish you can add swirling, the reverse of the polishing we are aiming for. The process is designed to remove swirls and marring from repeated hand polishing in the past. Swirls, sometimes referred to as spider webbing, clearly evident when the light hits the surface at the right angle. This marring is caused by friction on the bodywork paint from either hand washing or polishing, producing thousands of micro scratches consistent with how the wash cloth or brush or polishing cloth have travelled across the surface of the paintwork. Only machine polishing with the appropriate pad and friction heat generated by the machine’s torque can effectively remove these imperfections.

This process should only be carried out by fully trained professionals as caution is required when machine polishing as it is possible to remove the paint from the vehicle.

Once the correction has been completed, small parts at a time, we then clean down with lint free microfiber cloth followed by a detailed inspection of the paintwork to determine if further work is required. As the bodywork on the Jaguar was in reasonable condition, only exhibiting minor swirls a single pass was all that was required in most parts.

A Ceramic Coating (such as Aqua Coat Pro) is a liquid polymer is applied by hand to the exterior of the vehicle. The coating chemically bonds with the vehicle’s factory paint, creating a layer of protection.

Whilst a Ceramic Coating is not a substitute for Paint protection film, a Ceramic Coating creates a permanent or semi-permanent bond with a vehicle’s paint, meaning that it does not wash away or break down and does not require repeated application every few months. In short, a Ceramic Coating adds additional protection to your car’s exterior including protection from UV damage and oxidation, with protection from chemical stains and etching, helping to keep it looking like-new with comparatively minimal maintenance. The coating achieves this result by making your vehicle more resilient and easier to clean.

Once all the bodywork has been treated we start on the wheels, applying the Aqua Coat ceramic. Even the exhausts and glass had the marque2 attention to detail. It must be noted that if ceramic coatings are applied in an incorrect method or amount, non-removable stains can form, that is why it is impossible for no professionals to apply ceramic coatings on their own. We at Marque2pro are fully trained accredited and licensed in the application of Ceramic coatings. Current ceramic coatings in the market take many hours to cure, curing from the outside down.

A Ceramic Coating keeps your car looking like-new with comparatively minimal maintenance, not No maintenance. Let’s face it the road is a dirty place. If you are driving your car, it will get dirty, even with a Ceramic Coating, you will still need to wash your car regularly in order to maintain its look. The benefit of a Ceramic Coating is that the cleaning process will be easier. Moreover, having a Ceramic Coating means that you will no longer have to wax your vehicle every few months, eliminating a significant part of maintaining your car’s exterior. Thus, a Ceramic Coating does not make your vehicle maintenance-free, but it does mean that with less work you will be able to maintain better results.

Eventually the sun broke through and made the paintwork radiate just it would have when it came off the production line.

External ceramics are now not the only protection available, as an optional extra we can also apply ceramics to glass and fabrics, including leather, offering that extra protection.
